Volunteer Centre Barnet is calling all of the borough’s professionals to give a small amount of their time to help charities and other groups.

The volunteer centre is appealing for accountants, lawyers, IT experts and anyone else with key professional skills to give anything from a few days a year, to a few hours a week, to help groups in need.

Volunteers will be added to the centre’s database and paired with groups who need support in their area of expertise.

So, for example, an accountant could give three days a year to help a small charity draw up its annual accounts.

Misha Bhatt, Volunteer Centre manager, said: “This is a unique opportunity for local businesses, retired and/or working experts within their profession to give back by using their skills and experience to help and enrich the local community.

“When a community is doing well as a whole, its individuals are better off, too.”

Volunteer Centre Barnet supports volunteering by working with community groups in Barnet and finding them volunteers.
