Colindale’s Royal Air Force Museum will open its latest exhibition tomorrow.
From March 22 until September 20 the museum will display a free exhibition on sports in the RAF.
Since 1918 the RAF has used sports as a way of teaching personnel the importance of teamwork, self-confidence, daring and physical fitness.
In Athletes and Olympians: Sport in the RAF the museum explores how sport has been central to maintaining morale during operations.
The exhibition also shows the histories of some of the RAF personnel who reached the peak of their sports to represent Britain in the Olympics.
The exhibition will include a giant video screen, and sporting equipment used by sports people in the RAF, including a bobsleigh, and a racing motorbike.
