Students at a Barnet college were treated to a presentation by Olympic diver Peter Waterfield on Friday.

Barnet and Southgate College welcomed the athlete, who gave a talk to students studying a sport foundation degree, about what it is like to be a successful diver, his training regime and his feelings about winning an Olympic medal.

At 30, he is the oldest diver competing in the 2012 Olympics and already boasts an Olympic and Commonwealth silver medal.

Mr Waterfield has represented Britain in three Olympics and won gold at the British Championships four times.

David Byrne, principal of Barnet and Southgate College, said: "The 2012 games are such an exciting time for the capital and team GB. It's fantastic to give our students the opportunity to gain an insight into the life and training of an Olympic medal winner.

“We thank Peter for taking time out of his intensive training schedule to give an inspiring talk which really motivated our foundation degree sports students.

“We look forward to cheering him on to further medal success when he competes in the games this summer."
