Voters are being urged to check they are registered for the London elections.

As part of today’s Register to Vote Day, people are reminded they must register by April 18 to cast their vote for the London Mayor and members of the London Assembly on May 3.

Those most at risk of losing their vote are people who have recently moved house.

Currently 94 per cent of people in Barnet are registered to vote and all of these people should have now received their polling cards.

Barnet Council has launched a dedicated helpline offering people advice on how to add their name to the electoral register, how to apply for postal votes, and where their nearest polling station is.

To contact the helpline, call 020 8359 4111.
