The winners of a hospital’s drawing competition were announced at an awards ceremony last night.

To mark the opening of its new paediatric service BMI The Garden Hospital in Hendon held a drawing competition for schoolchildren.

More than 50 children entered the competition and the winning images were chosen by the hospital’s executive director Kim McRae and nurse, Menisha Patel.

The winning drawings will be used to decorate the new paediatric department at the Sunny Garden Road hospital.

The winners were Joel Barnstein (reception to year two), Rotem Nassi (year three), Maia Dee (year four), Shira King (year five) and Liora Herman (year six).

Cllr Brian Schama, Barnet’s new mayor, said: “It is fantastic to see that Barnet has so much young talent.

“Once again The Garden Hospital has shown that it's heart is at the centre of the community it serves.

“The new paediatric service is supported by a vast amount of experience and expertise and is something that will be of great benefit to our local community."
