Children have the chance to look around a fire engine, a police car and talk to firefighters and police officers in Potters Bar over half term.

Fire crews will chat to young people about fire safety at Furzefield Centre in Mutton Lane from 2pm to 3pm on Wednesday, June 6.

Children can also dress up as firefighters and have a go using a hose.

On Thursday, June 7 the centre will hold a children’s first aid course, which will involve fake blood, fake wounds and role play from 2pm to 3pm.

And on Friday, June 8, from 1pm to 2pm, police officers will talk to children about road safety, stranger danger and looking after their neighbours. There will also be a chance to dress up in the officers’ hats, police jackets and high-visibility vests.

Barry Ellis, centre manager, said: “The children have really loved the visits from the police and fire service at previous kiddie kamps so this half term we have an events with both the fire service, the police and a chance to learn first aid.

“The children get a huge amount from meeting them and understanding their work as well being educated on some very important issues like fire safety and stranger danger.”
