Party-goers across the borough are gearing up for Barnet’s flagship Jubilee celebration which will take place in Golders Hill Park this afternoon.

The event will kick off at 2.45pm with the unveiling of a specially designed Jubilee weathervane which will sit on top of the park’s bandstand.

Throughout the rest of the day there will be a range of classical and contemporary music performances by schoolchildren.

The performers include East Barnet Music Centre, Hendon Music Centre and the London Male Jewish Voice Choir.

There will also be children’s entertainers and stalls run by community groups.

The event will end with a fireworks display at 10pm and the lighting of a six metre high beacon as part of the national beacon chain.

It will be lit by 11-year-old Isabella Ward from Mill Hill who shares her birthday with the Jubilee Event.

Visitors are being invited to bring their own picnics, although catering facilities will be available in the park.
