The University organised the event at the Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood last Friday.

Prizes were given out to the best sportsman and the best sportswoman, the captain of the year and the team of the year.

All of the awards were presented by Saracens and England Saxons rugby player, Andy Saull.

The prize for sportsman of the year went to fencing star James Davis, from East Barnet.

Ashleigh Nelson, from Stoke, won sportswoman of the year for her efforts in the 100m.

Mel Parker, Middlesex University's head of sport and recreation, said: "It's been an amazing year of sport at Middlesex and the excitement levels are building with a number of our students hopeful of selection for the Olympic Games.

"The quality of this year's winners shows Middlesex is a great destination for people who want to make sure they can excel in sport as well as their academic studies."
