Clinton Cards stores in Edgware and Southgate set to close

Clinton Cards stores in Edgware and Southgate will close, the company’s administrators have confirmed.

The branches were named in the latest list of closures announced by Zolfo Cooper since it took control of the failed card retailer in May.

The futures of Barnet’s two stores still hang in the balance but their closure seems imminent after they were not included in a rescue buyout earlier this month.

The sale of 397 Clinton Cards stores, including the Brent Cross branch, to a subsidiary of the American Greetings Corporation looks to have saved 4,500 jobs.

Of the remaining 350 stores across the UK, administrators have confirmed the closure of 165 branches, all of which will be shut down in the coming months.

Unless a last-minute buyer steps forward with an offer for the remaining stores, including those in Barnet, they are also expected to be shut down some time during the summer.
