Barnet’s very own Olympic torch will begin its journey across the borough today.
The torch, which has been made by Middlesex University students, will be carried to eleven schools.
The relay will begin at The Compton School in Finchley today and will finish at The Hyde School in Hendon on Friday, June 29.
Once the torch arrives at each new destination, neighbouring schools will be invited to come along and take part in sporting activities.
During the closing event children from The Hyde will be invited to try a number of Olympic themed sports including tennis, athletics and hockey.
The events will be opened and closed by Kim Henderson, one of Barnet’s official Olympic Torchbearers.
