A Hendon primary school is marking the start of its mini Olympics with an opening ceremony this morning.
St Mary’s and St John’s Primary School in Prothero Gardens is holding a month of sporting events starting next week.
Today the children will parade around the school’s field with flags that they have made.
Each class will then perform a dance from a different country for the rest of the school.
On July 2 the youngest children will have a day of mini games all of which include running, throwing or jumping.
The next week the older children will have a sports day where they will compete in activities such as javelin and long distance running.
In the final week there will be a closing ceremony during which the children who have accrued the most points during the events will be given prizes.
