Children at a Potters Bar school held their own Olympic torch relay this morning.

Pupils at Northaw Church of England Primary School, in Vineyards Road, attended an Olympic themed assembly at the Church of St Thomas of Canterbury.

They then lined Vineyards Road to cheer the homemade flame as it was carried from the church to the school by children of all ages.

The torch was made by the pupils from cardboard and the flame was created out of tissue paper.

Throughout the rest of the week the children will be taking part in special sporting activities including a multi-skills activity afternoon.

Headteacher Alis Rocca said: "The children are very excited about learning about the Olympics and about participating in the activities the teachers have planned for them.”
