Bus drivers demonstrate over Olympics bonuses

Edgware bus drivers staged a protest over Olympics bonuses today.

The demonstration at Edgware Bus Station caused disruption to a number of bus services this morning.

Leon Daniels, managing director surface transport at Transport for London, said: "It is negotiation between the employers and union that is required to settle this dispute, not action that disrupts the journeys of hard working bus passengers."

Drivers want a £500 Olympic bonus in line with that being paid to other transport workers.

Demonstrations were also held in Westbourne Park, Willesden, Brixton, Garston and Alperton during rush hour.

No sympathy, you don't exactly have to gain a degree to be bus driver! If they work extra, they get overtime, there is only a maximum legal limit on the passengers on a bus. 70,000 volunteers, 240,000 applications for volunteers, all willing to work for free to make this games a success for England, do your part you laxy thick planks. Don't see this as an opportunity for once to earn a 'bonus', you’re not highly intelligent city boys using your brains to earn millions in profit for your company.

I didn't see many bus drivers fiddling the LIBOR for personal gain. If laxy greedy planks bankers deserve bounses why not bus drivers - at least they get me from a to b rather than mess up my bank account.

All bus drivers and many are foreign already work overtime plus their rest days to supplement their very less than average basic wage. Maybe they should work to their basic hours for the duration of the Games. Result one every hour and Harvey would not get to the Games

National Pay Data
