Angela Morris is given her cheque by Martin Kelly of Mitie
A new prize draw has been introduced by social landlord, Barnet Homes, in a drive to ensure their tenants’ homes are safe from gas leaks.
The draw, set up by Barnet Homes’ contractor, Mitie, is designed to encourage tenants to keep their annual gas servicing appointments.
Each month all of the tenants who keep their gas servicing appointments will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win £50.
Angela Morris of Burnt Oak was the first winner and was presented with August’s cheque.
She said: “I was really excited when I got my cheque - I wasn’t expecting to win the prize draw.
“It’s a very good idea and makes people aware of how important the annual gas service is for everyone’s safety.”
Barnet Homes chief executive, Tracey Lees, said: “I’d like to thank Mitie for setting up the draw and our residents for keeping their appointments and appreciating the importance of our gas safety checks.
“We pride ourselves on offering great services and a 100 per cent gas servicing record for the fourth year running is a fantastic achievement by all the staff concerned.
“I hope this latest incentive will have a positive effect in getting people to respond again this year.”

Barnet Homes used to give out Customer Satisfaction forms after repairs, saying there was a monthly prize draw of shopping vouchers for those who filled them in. Well what do you know…?
No monthly draw, no vouchers, no list of winner’s names; all totally illegal under Consumer Protection Regulations….

"ES commented that Mitie still had performance issues and that gas servicing was the main concern..."
"JD asked if customers were informed if the contractor was not going to turn up as he knew of some cases."
And now read this excuse: "Natalie Oldfield said that they had being having problems with mobiles that had no signal so that contractors couldn’t phone but they had now changed the provider."
So £50 a month for some PR is not a bad move at all.
