Health, Education and Social Care courses at Barnet and Southgate College can open up a number of interesting careers and employment opportunities in various areas such as: education, childcare, teaching, counselling, social care and healthcare.
The college offers a wide range of full- and part-time courses, some of which also prepare students for higher education in subjects such as nursing, social work, youth work, early years and teaching training.
The college is one of the leading centres for high quality vocational training in north London, working closely with Middlesex University to maintain high standards and employability once students have completed their course. Each department also has close links with the local community, to ensure work placement opportunities and help improve training.
Here’s what Sara Musallam, one of the Health and Social Care students, said of her experiences at college: “I wasn’t sure what to do after school, but then I found out about the Health and Social Care BTEC. My course is the equivalent of doing 3.5 A Levels. I enjoy getting the coursework done as the teaching is great and you get a lot of support.
“I’ve made lots of new friends from different backgrounds as it’s a diverse and welcoming college. I also enjoy the independence as it really makes you want to study and afterwards I want to go on to university to train as a midwife or nurse.”
You can enrol now for health, education and social care courses starting in September 2012.
