Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust nominated for Nursing Times Award

A new service for mental health patients in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey has been named a finalist for a national award.

The Hospital at Night service, run by the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, will compete with other finalists to win the Nursing in Mental Health category of the 2012 Nursing Times Awards.

The service was launched in response to feedback from patients who said it needed to be easier for people to access mental health services outside of normal working hours.

It ensures that patients who are distressed and need immediate support have quick access to care.

The service assesses the patients’ needs and provides access to all of the trust’s services.

Mary Sexton, Director of Nursing, Quality and Governance at Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, said: “I am delighted that the hard work of everyone involved with the hospital at night service has been recognised. 

“We know that there was a huge amount of entries this year for these awards, so this is a great achievement to be shortlisted and even better if we win! 

“I would like to congratulate everyone who has been involved in setting up and running this service, this really does make a big difference to our patients.”

The Trust will find out if it has won the award at the end of October 2012.
