Free parenting course for parents and carers in Barnet

A free parenting course is being offered to parents and carers in Barnet.

Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities is a 13 week course for anyone involved in bringing up children between the ages of three and 18 years.

The scheme is targeted at vulnerable parents and carers from minority ethnic communities in Barnet.

It promotes protective factors associated with good parenting such as developing close parent-child relationships, promoting self discipline and self esteem, as well strategies for anger management.

The course is run by the Barnet CommUNITY Parenting Consortium led by CommUNITY Barnet.

Facilitators speak a variety of languages including Turkish, Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, German, Yoruba and Somali, and have links to community organisations where families and schools can receive further support.
