Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has been given a new role in the cabinet as part of David Cameron’s reshuffle today.

Ms Villiers, a Conservative MP, will no longer be Minister of State for Transport.

She will become Northern Ireland Secretary, replacing Owen Paterson.

Ms Villiers was a barrister and lecturer before becoming an MEP in 1999.

She became MP for Chipping Barnet in 2005.
