A man struck by a train at Edgware tube station yesterday died at the scene, the British Transport Police has confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the London Underground station at 4.23pm, where the man had been hit by a Northern Line train.

Officers say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A statement from a BTP spokesperson said: “Medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and inform his family. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Fire engines, ambulances and police incident units were sent to the station, which was taped off to the public by officers.

Burnt Oak station was also closed as part of the investigation and the Northern Line was suspended between Edgware and Colindale.

Services resumed at about 7pm.
