Counter terrorism detectives investigating the 2010 murder of a Pakistani politician in Edgware are offering a £20,000 reward for information which leads to an arrest.

The Metropolitan Police detectives have released a fresh appeal for information to mark the second anniversary of the murder of Dr Imran Farooq in Green Lane on September 16, 2010.

They are offering a reward of up to £20,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Dr Farooq, a founding member of the MQM party, Pakistan’s third largest political party, was on his way home from work when he was attacked outside his house just before 5.30pm.

The father-of-two died from multiple stab wounds and a blunt trauma to the head.

A five and a half inch-bladed kitchen knife and a brick used in the attack were recovered at the scene.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has any information relating to the crime.
