The body of a vulnerable young man from East Finchley who went missing earlier this month was pulled from the River Thames, it has emerged.

Philip Saravanamuttu, 23, was last seen by flatmates in Fortis Green, East Finchley, at 5.30pm on September 4.

Officers investigating his disappearance were informed on September 7 of a man seen jumping from Westminster Bridge into the River Thames.

This morning it emerged that on Tuesday, September 12, police recovered a body from the river that was subsequently identified as Mr Saravanamuttu.

Tests to ascertain the exact cause of death have so far proved inconclusive and police are waiting for the result of toxicology reports.

The body of Philip was released to the family and the funeral has now taken place near the family home in Bury, Greater Manchester.
