Parents and staff enjoy cake and coffee in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
A school took part in the world’s biggest coffee morning to raise cash for a cancer charity this morning.
The Parent Teacher Association at Whitings Hill Primary School in Whitings Road, Barnet, organised the fundraiser as part of the Macmillan Coffee Morning which is taking part up and down the country.
The sale raised £290 for Macmillan Cancer Support which provides practical, medical and financial support to people with cancer.
Lucy Millar, secretary of the PTA, said: "I've had experience of cancer in my family and a few people at school have had similar problems with cancer - so we thought it would be good for us to be a part of.
"It went really well this morning - the atmosphere was great and we had a lot of people turn out."
The school will be selling the remaining cakes at the end of the day in a bid to raise more cash for the charity.
