Decision on new Edgware synagogue imminent

A small synagogue could be opened in Edgware if plans are approved at a council meeting on Thursday night (tomorrow).

Applicants KBA want to convert Mobray House, in Edgware Way, near the junction with Broadfields Avenue, into a place of worship.

The plans also include provision for a Talmudic Research Centre, a school for Jewish studies.

If councillors approve the application at tomorrow’s meeting, congregations would be restricted to just 50 members per session.

Planning officers, which have recommended the application be approved, would also restrict opening times at the synagogue and prevent its use for larger events such as weddings or Bar Mitzvahs.

Five neighbours consulted over the plans have requested permission to speak at the planning meeting, with some concerned about parking provision at the site.

I live just off Broadfields Ave and as a young Jewish girl I think this is a fantastic idea I know where they mean and it would be a great idea to also get young people to help out and get younger generation of Jewish children to learn such a fantastic idea
