Have your say on Barnet Council at residents' forums this month

People can have their say on the council’s work in Barnet at one of three residents’ forums this month.

Any matters other than planning or licensing issues will be discussed at the meetings which will be chaired by council representatives.

The forums will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, October 16 at Barnet House in High Road, Whetstone, Avenue House in East End Road, Finchley, and Hendon Town Hall in The Burroughs.

Any issues or queries can be submitted up until 6pm the day before to either chippingbarnet.residentsforum@barnet.gov.uk, f&gg.residentsforum@barnet.gov.uk or hendon.residentsforum@barnet.gov.uk.

Area environment sub-committee meetings will be held after each forum.

Have your say - err, think not. In addition to planning and licensing you cannot raise questions about 'policy' - so anything that really matters is ruled out!

there were kids swinging and attacking people walking in WATLING PARK. people don't go to parks for fear of being attacked. also lots of petty trash lying around schools (Barnfield Primary school). The school need to tell kids not to throw their trash where ever they go.

Could you add email addresses for where people to submit their issues to?

Barnet Trader is correct: the range of issues they will address is shockingly narrow.

You can't discuss 'policy' (!), any borough-wide issue (!), or anything that's been discussed already in the last six months (!).

I do think people should keep attending these meetings though, and suggesting topics they - residents - would LIKE to discuss. That way the current administration might have to reflect on how their attempts to stifle debate are making them look stupid in the residents' eyes.

I am part of the Barnet Alliance http://barnetallianc
e.org and we are campaigning to get more openness and accountability in the council.

Don't make me laugh. You can only ask questions which relate to 'public works' and which has been tightly defined by the constitution specifically in order to stifle debate. Barnet have absolutely no interest in what residents have to say.

Many readers will know about the BARNET ALLIANCE FOR PUBLIC SERVICES' OUR BARNET unrestricted ALL-BARNET RESIDENTS' FORUMS and how they have broken the council's attacks on free speech and given Barnet citizens a regular opportunity publicly to ask whatever they want, however they want: to criticise or applaud the council or to come up with new much-needed solutions to the many problems facing our Barnet community.

This month this opportunity will be at the Phoenix Cinema East Finchley at 6.30 on 22 October - a discussion and film show with a new film exposing the ONE BARNET sell-out.

And again on November 8th at the Greek Cypriot Centre, Britannia Road N12 there will be a debate and discussion between leading councillors and opponents of the ONE BARNET privatisation. programme
