Men jailed for attempted cash in transit robbery in Mill Hill

Five men have been sentenced to a total of 22 years and six months in prison for their part in a series of cash in transit robberies including one in Mill Hill.

Yesterday, at Wood Green Crown Court, Mounir Boufas, 26, of St John’s Wood, Jamie Gillman, 25, of St John’s Wood, Richard Kelly, 22, of no fixed abode, Jamie Reardon, 30, of no fixed abode and Christopher Murphy, 26, also of no fixed abode were sentenced.

All five pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob cash in transit van drivers.

One of the crimes, an attempted cash in transit robbery, took place in Mill Hill Broadway on May 8.

On this occasion Murphy tried to rob a G4S driver of a cash box containing £25,000.

He was backed up by Boufas and Gillman both of whom were in a stolen Mercedes which the trio dumped in Edgware.

Murphy was caught after being identified in CCTV footage.

Yesterday Boufas was jailed for five years, Gillman for five years and four months, Kelly for four years and four months, Reardon for four years and six months and Murphy for three years and four months.

Murphy was additionally sentenced to two years six months imprisonment to run consecutively for one count of burglary with 21 other burglaries taken into consideration.
