Headteacher of Edgware Junior School 'devastated' by burglary

A headteacher has spoken of her “devastation” after her newly refurbished school was burgled.

Shirley Patterson, headmistress at Edgware Junior School in Heming Way, was shocked to discover on Monday that the school had been burgled over the weekend.

She said: “We are devastated that our school has been violated but the staff are all doing their best to minimise the disruption to our pupils’ learning.

“We hope the perpetrator is caught and justice is served swiftly.”

The school estimates that £2,000 worth of items were stolen and that the burglars caused £1,000 worth of damage.

Three laptops, a projector, two cameras and a set of speakers were taken.

Damage was caused to the newly refurbished classrooms as the burglars tried to detach projectors from the ceilings.
