Barnet Borough Council asks residents to report problems online

Barnet Borough Council is asking people to use a dedicated online tool to report problems caused by cold weather.

The council is using barnet.fixmystreet.com to allow residents to upload their details and images of issues they would like to see tackled.

This can be used to report problems such as potholes, damaged paving slabs and icy roads.

Use of the site is free and it can be accessed from the council’s website.

Councillor Dean Cohen, cabinet member for environment, said: “FixMyStreet is the quickest and easiest way for residents to report issues to us.

“Once a report has been submitted, it is then directed straight to the relevant council department to be dealt with.

“As the weather turns colder over the next few months, I am asking residents to help us fix problems as quickly as possible, whether this is potholes appearing on the road or in the event of snow, a particular icy public area that needs looking at again.

“I have also again tasked refuse crews with reporting potholes whilst carrying out their rounds which will mean every council maintained road in the borough will be monitored at least once a week.”

Residents are also able to log back into the site and leave a comment as to whether their problem has been appropriately resolved.

Gosh, I wish this had been available in 2007, when Barnet Council allowed a TV cable company to cut the steel reinforcements in 200 metres of public highway, and Veolia Water's water mains to leak for over three years, causing West Hendon Broadway, to collapse, costing over £250,000 of tax-payers money to rectify.

Though, when I took them to court for the damage they also caused to my property, they withheld ALL evidence of their negligence, and extracted every penny they could in costs from me.

Veolia and the TV cable company paid not a single penny for the damage they caused, in fact, they may have made a profit, from the £28,000 in costs they got from the Council.

If anyone wants proof, I'm not hard to find.
