Barnet Borough Council councillor calls for new pedestrian crossing in Mill Hill

A Barnet Borough Council councillor is calling for a new pedestrian crossing in Mill Hill.

Councillor Geoffrey Johnson spoke at a meeting of the Hendon Area Environment Sub-Committee on Tuesday evening to ask that a crossing is introduced in Lawrence Street.

Cllr Johnson told the committee: “In the mornings at school time this road is extremely busy due to the road being used as a rat run.

“In fact, the road is busy all day. That combined with the bends in the road, and cars speeding down the hill, makes it hazardous to cross.

“Residents feel that this is an accident waiting to happen.”

Cllr Johnson asked the committee to consider adding a crossing at the bottom of the road, near the Mill Hill Circus roundabout.

The committee agreed that they would ask the highways design team to visit and consider whether installing a crossing would be possible.
