Barnet Borough Council councillor calls for CPZ in West Hendon

A West Hendon councillor is calling for stricter parking regulations in her ward.

Councillor Julie Johnson spoke at a meeting of the Hendon Area Environment Sub-Committee on Tuesday evening to ask for stricter regulations in Shirehall Park.

Cllr Johnston told the committee that the regulations are needed as commuters, and students from Wentworth College, park in the road depriving residents of their spaces.

She said: “The people can’t park outside their own houses. Often they can’t park in their street at all.

“A Controlled Parking Zone would resolve the problem but it would need to cover all of the surrounding roads or the problem will just be shifted.”

The committee agreed to consider a consultation on the matter.
