Burst water main in Hendon wreaks havoc with rush hour traffic

A burst water main wreaked havoc with rush hour traffic in Hendon this morning.

Police closed off The Burroughs, outside the Town Hall, shortly before midnight while Thames Water engineers carried out repairs to the broken pipe.

Work is still being carried out at the junctions with Egerton Gardens and St Josephs Grove.

Traffic is heavily congested in Church Lane, Brent Street and The Burroughs, and the delays are having a knock-on effect into surrounding areas.

Transport for London says bus routes 143, 183 and 326 have been affected.

The Times Series is awaiting a comment from Thames Water on the situation.
