Football fans will be lacing up their trainers for a sponsored walk as part of their campaign to bring Barnet FC back to the borough.

People will be walking the 11.6 miles from Underhill to The Hive, in Camrose Avenue, Edgware, for the club’s first game of the season on Saturday, August 10.

The Bees left their stadium in Underhill and relocated to The Hive at the end of last season, but a campaign to bring them ‘Back 2 Barnet’ was launched.

The sponsored walk has been organised by lifelong Bees supporter Gary Cooper, who is hoping this walk will raise money and awareness for the campaign.

He said: “For many people in Barnet the fact that our club will no longer be playing its games in the town is very difficult to accept. It is our club, we want it back in Barnet.

“The sponsored walk is a demonstration of our determination to get the club back where it belongs”.

People will be meeting at the south stand in Underhill at midday, before the Bees play Barnet against Chester City.
