A STRIKE planned by more than 550 First Capital Connect (FCC) drivers has been called off following a meeting today.
Aslef union balloted its members for the walkout over an unsatisfactory pay rise for the coming year.
A revised pay offer by FCC bosses is close to being given the thumbs up by its drivers after today's talks.
Union leaders at Aslef met to discuss the proposal from FCC management due to the ongoing dispute which has seen drivers refusing to work overtime and on rest days.
The union's website reads: Accordingly the Executive Committee, Lead Officer and company Council are recommending that members accept the revised FCC 2009/10 pay offer which equates to 5.0 per cent over two years."
FCC drivers have until January 13, 2010 to decide whether to accept the offer.
General Secretary Keith Norman said: “I'm pleased the company has come forward with an improved offer and hope they will address the causes of the current disagreement by recruiting more train drivers.”
