AN IMPROVED compensation offer is being put together for passengers affected by the long-running disruptions to First Capital Connect services through Mill Hill and Hendon.
“Normal” services were finally restored this week after a pay dispute with a drivers union and severe weather meant only a skeleton service was being operated since November.
In December the Times Series reported FCC was to offer season ticket holders five return tickets as compensation for the disruption.
However, now they have confirmed they are putting together an “increased compensation deal” for commuters.
An email from FCC representative Larry Heyman to prospective Hendon Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Matthew Harris said: “Following the ongoing severe disruption to Thameslink route services due to the extreme weather conditions, we have reviewed the planned customer compensation package and now propose a revised and increased compensation deal.
“Details of this will follow in due course and we will advise how this can be claimed via our website."
It is understood people who suffered delays of more than 30 minutes on any journey will also be entitled to compensation.
Mr Harris said: “I understand that no amount of compensation can entirely recompense people for the misery caused by problems on the Thameslink route.
“But I do appreciate FCC's desire to improve matters, compensate passengers and communicate with me as a candidate for Hendon. I shall continue to work with FCC to ensure that they deliver on their promises.”
