POSTERS promoting recycling and composting have been put up at Bishop's Stortford's household waste site.
The posters will eventually be at all 19 Hertfordshire waste sites to raise awareness of waste problems facing the county, and to encourage people to do their bit.
Conservative county councillor Iris Tarry, who helped launch the initiative, said: 'We want people to realise that we're beginning to face a huge waste crisis. We must all change the way we deal with our household rubbish as we're rapidly running out of landfill space.'
Current county landfill space is due to run out in 2007. Tough new government targets will also force the county to double the amount recycled and composted by 2003.
