Review of the Year 2007 pictures.
March 1

Four people were arrested for public order offences after dozens of schoolchildren and members of the public were caught up in a 20-minute street brawl between pupils in Hendon.
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer): "The scene was chaotic. Sometimes even the presence of a camera can add to the tension and be provocative. It needed tact not to provoke the kids or the police."
June 29

Members of Barnet's Orthodox Jewish community welcomed the mayor of a Polish town where Jews were murdered in World War Two.
Mayor Waclaw Ligeza centre has been instrumental in encouraging the refurbishment of the town's synagogue.
Peter Beal (photographer): "Sometimes just lining people up to smile at the camera is not the best way. This picture was shot with available light to make it more atmospheric, and to throw the main emphasis on the subject of the story."
June 21

The rain held off for children enjoying a Punch and Judy show, one of the events held in Central Square to celebrate the centenary of Hampstead Garden Suburb.
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer): "The boy at the centre had such a relaxed and happy expression. Sometimes a smile is all you need to make a picture. Everyone understands."
July 5

A child tries out one of the wristbands which were part of a new child safety scheme at The Mall Shopping Centre, Edgware.
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer): "Working with small children is never easy. The authorities and parents are suspicious of what you're trying to do as a Press photographer. Here the girl's eye looking at the bracelet gives the story its context while keeping her anonymous, and you're drawn to the message, 'Safe'."
July 26

Baroness Margaret Thatcher returned to her old stomping ground to open an exhibition at the Royal Air Force Musuem in Hendon.
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer) says: "You get the sense she's contemplating something serious. Perhaps she's remembering the Falklands conflict."
August 2

Since fleeing war-torn Somalia 53-year-old Halima Abdulwahab has spent 12 years waiting for permanent housing on the Barnet Council waiting list.
Her daughter Saadia Mahmud said of her family: "They are being treated like animals."
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer): "Mothers are always powerful to photograph as they carry the hopes and burdens of their children."
September 20

Second world war veterans from Barnet watched themselves on film in a documentary being made in California.
Film-makers from the Center for Jazz Arts in Beverly Hills spotted the eight veterans at Omaha Cemetery in Normandy, France, in June and asked if they could interview them about their experiences. Peter Beal (photographer) says: "They were a really great bunch of guys."
November 1

Buses were targetted by police in a crackdown on public transport crime.
John Macdonald-Fulton (photographer): "This picture tells you everything you need to know - the police, the bus, and the search. I shot it in a way so as not to identify the member of the public."
November 8

Sasha Dhillon, who attended Christ's College in the Eighties, was among visitors to the original buildings at the school's 150th anniversary celebrations.
This staircase, housed inside a 12ft tower, was built in 1860 and is now Finchley landmark. John Macdonald-Foulton (photographer): "The stairs were an unmissable photo opportunity."
December 13

Prince Charles and Camilla added extra illumination to the Jewish Festival of Light when they visited Hendon Hall to celebrate Hanukkah with primary school children from across London.

December 13

Joe Thompson, 14, is one of 1,000 young carers in Barnet who spend much of their childhoods looking after ill or vulnerable family members.
He has cared for his mother Valerie, 37, who has arthritis, for the past four years.
John Macdonald Foulton (photographer): "A lovely kid who helps his mum, I used his laid-back nature to tell his story in this portrait."
