- A blaze engulfed Brent Cross shopping centre causing mayhem for shoppers trying to make the sales, as four cars caught alight in the multi-storey car park.
- Class-conscious graffiti artists added acute accents to the ‘e’ in Barnet. The move was welcomed by many people, who even changed their place of residence on social networking site, Facebook —
but not by Barnet Society planning officer David Lee, who said he was “intensely irritated”.
- Four men were jailed after the Metropolitan Police smashed a million-pound fake passport ring. They discovered 1,800 forgeries in New Southgate in what was described as the ‘biggest ever haul’.
