Police searched for an alleged kidnap victim who had fled their suspected captors after a car crash in Hendon. An unmarked police car was in collision with two other vehicles at the junction of Golders Green Road and Brent Street during an undercover operation to free the victim.

Oliver Kingonzila, 19, who captained Barnet FC’s under-18s team, was fatally knifed outside E Bar in Croydon. Police believed the stabbing occurred during a fracas involving three men. Barnet FC manager, Paul Fairclough said the tragedy had devastated staff at the club and described his charge as a ‘gentle giant’.
