A loved-up couple who share a passion for the number 12 are getting married at 12.12pm on December 12, 2012.

Joeh Chan, 24, and Ginny Chan, 20, of Colindale, will exchange their vows at the Burnt Oak Register Office in front of family and friends.

The couple first met at midnight on December 12 while celebrating at a friend’s party four years ago.

Mr Chan, an IT director, said: “The number 12 has always been very lucky for us. When I knew the 12/12/12 was coming up I decided to book the register office before I even knew Ginny’s answer.”

Mr Chan took Miss Chan for a romantic meal at Alexandra Palace where he proposed on her birthday, October 12.

Miss Chan, a student at the London College of Fashion, said: “I’m really looking forward to being married, but I’m getting a bit nervous about the big day.”

The couple are not the only ones eager to tie the knot today. Barnet Registration and Nationality Service has seen a spike in interest for this special date.

So far 14 weddings have been booked in, 13 at the Oak Room in Burnt Oak Register Office and one at Hendon Town Hall.

Sanja Duymovic-Potnar, service manager at Barnet Registration and Nationality Service said: “We normally have four or five weddings on a week day, but this year the date has proved really popular. It will be another 100 years before similar date combination comes around again.”

Mr Chan said: “People couldn’t believe it when we told them what date we were planning on getting married.

“Us men can have a problem with remembering dates, so I have no excuse for forgetting my wedding anniversary in the future.”
