An inquest is to be held into the death of an 86-year-old pedestrian yesterday.
The elderly woman was hit by a Volkswagen van in Camrose Avenue, Edgware, at 12pm.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics from the air ambulance, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed, a post mortem is being arranged and an inquest will be held at Barnet Coroner’s Court.
The 28-year-old male driver of the van was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been bailed to return to a north London police station in January.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit on 020 8842 1817.
