A product designer and an engineer will pit their skills against those of rivals from across the world at an international competition.
Calum Knott and John Peerless, students at Middlesex University, based in The Burroughs, Hendon, have been selected to represent the UK at EuroSkills Lille 2014.
The final year students were invited to take part in the competition after attending the WorldSkills UK competition earlier this year.
Calum, who is studying design engineering and product design student John will represent the UK in the Mechatronics category alongside another team from car manufacturer Toyota.
Calum, 21, who lives in Cockfosters, said: “It is an honour to have been selected as a member of Squad UK and to represent the both the UK and Middlesex University. The competition will be tough, but I’m excited to be through.”
The pair have been training since September and frequently fly to Northern Ireland for more training ahead of the event, which takes place in October.
If the two make it through to the finals at EuroSkills Lille, they will be selected to compete at the global competition World Skills Sao Paulo 2015.
