Different religions came together to celebrate the end of One World Week.

People enjoyed food, laughter and singing at the event, held in Finchley Methodist Church, in Ballards Lane, Finchley, last Saturday.

Organised by Churches Together in Finchley, it attracted people from six different churches, along with Finchley Progressive Synagogue and Finchley Mosque.

Lynn Radnedge, who has been organising One World Week events in Finchley for 31 years, said it was a “massive success”.

She added: “We sang together and shared peaceful reflections, and finally all gathered together on the altar at Ballards Lane church with colours of the rainbow reflecting our joy at being different but still able to blend together in glorious harmony.”

The group also took part in a ‘Peace Walk’ last week, which involved visiting five churches, the synagogue and the mosque with a candle for each venue.

At the start of the walk, spring bulbs were also planted at St Mary-at-Finchley Church, in Hendon Lane, Finchley, including snowdrops for victims of the Holocaust.
