Callers across the country are facing problems with the police's national non-emergency number.

The Metropolitan Police is currently experiencing technical issues with the 101 non-emergency number, meaning calls are not being received via this route.

The 999 system is unaffected but Londoners are reminded that this should only be used in the case of an emergency.

Non emergency crime can be reported online via www.met.police.uk or at a nearby police station.
