Singers will perform at a concert to raise money for people with dementia.

The Zemel Choir is holding the event at Allianz Park, in Greenlands Lane, Hendon, to support Barnet’s Dementia Cafes, run by the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Jewish choir, they will sing traditional folk songs, Ladino and Yiddish music.

It will also include a reception, kosher food, a magic show from the Magic Circle’s Michael Carr, a raffle and an auction.

Dementia Cafes were originally opened in the borough by Councillor Lisa Rutter, when she was Mayor of Barnet in 2011 and 2012.

Barnet’s first Dementia Cafe opened at the Finchley Memorial Hospital in 2012 and Cllr Rutter has continued to support the project by running the cafe for the past year.

It gives people with dementia and their carers the chance to meet and talk in a relaxed and informal environment, and share their experiences over tea and cakes.

Cllr Rutter said: “I believe that understanding this terrible disease and raising awareness is important to reduce the stigma and isolation that someone with dementia can feel.

“It’s also important for people with dementia and their carers to meet and relax. I know how much the Dementia Cafés have already benefited these individuals and, with the help of the Zemel Choir, I hope we can raise enough for the project to continue and provide a wider reaching network of support.”

The concert will be held on December 1 at 7.30pm. To buy tickets ring 07956 858 913 or visit www.wegottickets.com/event/280116
