Girls broke down gender stereotypes as they learnt about football and how to work safely in a team.

Teenagers were invited to Copthall Girls School, in Page Street, Mill Hill, to meet Barnet Football Club and detectives from Barnet Police.

The event was part of the Metropolitan Police force’s new Kickz project for girls, and for those who are at risk of being involved in the criminal justice system.

The football team taught the girls how to make use of each other’s strengths and become a winning side.

Officers also discussed their new project ‘clocks, locks and lights’ and personal safety in the run up to the festive period.

Ashley Levien, of Barnet Football club, said: ”Barnet Football club are working closely with officers from the Metropolitan police to help those girls that would benefit from coaching and mentoring.

“Building cornerstones together we can create a winning team and a healthy future for those that would otherwise be a detriment to society."
