A keen runner is gearing up to take part in the London Marathon in aid of an elderly people's charity.

Nic van der Breggen, 32, aims to raise £2,000 for Age UK Barnet.

Mr van der Breggen, who lives in Clarendon Road, Borehamwood and works as a project manager for Macquarie Bank, said training was going well.

He praised the work of Age UK Barnet, and said: “I’m 32, and I need a lot of help, so I can only imagine what it’s like when you get to 70 or 80. People cannot always afford full time care or help, and the charity helps people do the simple things a lot of us take for granted. It’s very worthwhile, but doesn’t get enough attention.”
