Students who designed a clip to stop people losing their glasses came second in a business competition.
Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils from Bishop Douglass School, in East Finchley, were given a brief to design a new product for the Design Museum Shop in London.
They came up with an idea to securely attach a pair of glasses to a shirt or jacket to prevent them from being lost.
Tisloh Danboyi, Charlotte Moore, Noraima Arif, Rewayda Abdulahi and Venetia Mould-Acquah competed against 240 schools from England.
They now have the chance to develop their idea with industry representatives and take it to the market.
Team leader Charlotte Moore said: “Our product range is small but the amount of hours we spent on design and testing was significant. I don’t think the general public realise how much checking, testing and modification is needed to produce something that will sell.”
