Young people are being challenged to write, film and edit their own short film to stop people smoking.

The Deborah Hutton Campaign and Barnet Public Health are supporting the Barnet Cut Films Anti-Smoking Short Film Competition.

The competition challenges under 25’s to come up with an original concept - scripting, filming and editing their own 2 minute, short film.

It is being run in areas across the UK including Barnet and Harrow.

All films are to be uploaded to the cut films website by May 8, where people can vote for and share their films online in a bid to beat the competition. The winning team will be awarded six mini iPad’s.

The aim of the programme is to get young people to help stop their friends from smoking, and films will be judged on their relevance to the theme, impact, and technical expertise.
