A care centre has been awarded a £5,000 grant from a radio group’s charity appeal.
Barnet Carers Centre, in Ballards Lane, North Finchley, received the cash from Global Radio’s Make Some Noise awards.
The money will be used to fund the centre’s young carers and siblings (BYCAS) services, focusing on providing transport for the activities and clubs they hold for children and teenagers living in Barnet.
Christine Makemson, chief executive of Barnet Carers Centre said: “Barnet Carers Centre feels extremely fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries from this campaign.
“Activities and outings give young carers the crucial support and respite they need in order for them to have time away from their caring role and have fun with other young carers in similar situations.
“This money will enable young carers registered with BYCAS who would not normally be able to attend (due to financial constraints on the family) to engage with the service.”
Radio presenter and singer Jason Donovan visited the centre last week to award the money.
Emma Bradley, director of Global Radio, which owns stations including Capital FM, Heart, Smooth and LBC, said: “We’re huge fans of the work that they do, and we’re so pleased that they’ve been part of our inaugural campaign to make some noise and change young lives.”
