Nearly 6,000 people registered to vote in Barnet during the past few weeks in time for the General Election on May 7.
Figures show that a total of 5,868 voters registered across the borough’s three constituencies between the start of March and the deadline at midnight on Monday.
The highest number was in Finchley and Golders Green, where 2,282 people scrambled to beat the deadline.
Hendon saw 2,022 voter registrations, while Chipping Barnet had 1,564.
The total electorate for Barnet now stands at 219,095.
Changes to the registration system last year mean voters are personally responsible for registering themselves, with Barnet Council running a campaign during the past few months urging people to do so.
