A group of friends is preparing to take the plunge to raise money for charity.

Stuart Slater and 11 others will take part in the London River Rat Race, a 10k obstacle course, this Saturday.

Based in the Docklands, the course includes a 20ft walk the plank and a 50ft water slide.

Risk manager Mr Slater, of Westbury Road, West Finchley, said the team hoped to raise £3,000 for Homeless Action Barnet.

The 44-year-old said: “Training is going fairly well. It’s going to look like something from It’s a Knockout.

“It will be fun, but it will be difficult. We are mostly prepared for it, and slightly nervous, which will make it all worthwhile.

“The charity does tremendous work, we have wonderful staff and volunteers who do a phenomenal job. I am really glad we can be doing this to support the guys on the ground.”

Taking part alongside Mr Slater will be Gerald Rehn, Ed Bradbury, Jonas Albinnson, Nelo Stotter, Angus Slater, Theo Hyman, Jessie Dyer, Simon Lewis, John Fitzpatrick, Mike Carney and Paul Salman.
